My name is Marusanek and I was grabbed by a black cat - And that's how it was (1.)
It was a beautifully scented day. The sun shone beautifully and warmed us pleasantly. I was frolicking carelessly on the shore, tasting everything that came under my beak, so I didn't even notice that someone had been watching me for a while.
I was completely oblivious to the dangers that might lurk for a little guy like me. My mother told me not to get too far away, that I couldn't swim wherever I wanted on my own, that I should listen to her, and a lot of other things.
Yeah, well, you can say that. But how is a little duckling like me supposed to know something is wrong when she's just discovering everything and seeing everything for the first time? The sun is so warm and the water is splashing nicely and there are so many interesting and good things all around.
Suddenly he jumped on me and I got scared. "Mummy! Mummy! " I screamed as loud as I could, but it was too late.
The black monster was carrying me in his mouth and didn't care that I wanted to go to my mommy and tell her that I would be good now and that I would always listen to her. We were getting further and further away from Mommy. Suddenly, I didn't see Mommy at all. The creature carried me further and further away, and I was so scared.
"Hey, you! You black monster! Let go of me! I've got to go see my mommy! She'll be worried about me! Where are you taking me?! It hurts!"
Then she suddenly jumped into the garden with me and is carrying me home. Don't you want to eat me!?
Suddenly I heard "...little brother! What have you got now? Give it here!"
I'm thinking to myself. It's probably someone calling to the monster and it's sure to let me go.
"Do you hear that?! You're supposed to let me go! Where are you taking me again?!"
Imagine if she didn't listen! On the contrary. She grabbed me and ran away with me again. Then, all of a sudden, this big, hairy, red-haired man came up and took me away from the black creature. He was poking me with his cold nose, licking me, and I didn't like it at all. I was so scared I couldn't make a sound.
Then, someone even bigger than both monsters together came running and shouted, "Misha! Ewww, it is!" And that was my rescue. Luckily, Misha the redhead was much more obedient than the black monster, so he stopped poking me and looked very guilty. But he had a reason, too. Is this the way to hurt lesser men?
Then the big creature took me in his hands. It was her. I was trembling all over, and there was a little soul inside me. But her hands were pleasantly warm, and she kept looking at me. She was worried about whether someone had hurt me, and though I was still shaking with fear, I felt that I didn't have to be afraid anymore.
For a while she didn't know what to do with me, so she ran around trying to find out as many things about me as she could. For example, what ducks like me actually eat and how to take care of myself, and what would be best.
Whether she should let me go to the gutter or whether she should keep me at home. So I don't get hurt by a cat again.
And so I learned that the black creature they call my brother is a cat, and he lives with a red-haired creature who is a dog, and his name is Misha. I also found out later that the big creature that saved me is named Hank, and she's a human.
I've never seen so many creatures at once in my life!
Then another big creature came from somewhere. Also, a human. He had a beard, and Hanka called him Franto. He looked at me in amazement and said I was beautiful. I quite liked that.
They talked for a while and then decided I could stay with them, that they would take care of me.
Then they took me to this little pond in the garden to see if I was all right and also to see if I could swim and feed now. Of course, I showed them how handy I am and how wonderful I am.
I was given a dipped sandwich, and a few other treats were floating on the water, which we ducks love. A bit of grass, some mosquitoes, and a few small flies. That was a treat. I was very hungry, so I stuffed my belly. I felt better right away. With a full belly, everything was suddenly happier.
I kept trying to call my mommy anyway. Too bad she couldn't hear me. Because if she had heard me, she would have come for me. I'd tell her everything, and then we'd go home together, and we'd be fine. But that didn't happen.
Mommy couldn't hear me, and I was all alone among all those strange creatures.
There's a lot of them living here. Besides my brother and Misha, there are several other cats. They're all staring at me, and it's creepy. Luckily, there's Hank, who always chases them away from me in time.
When I've had enough to drink and defecate, she takes me into her warm arms. At home, she made me an enclosure out of a big box, in which she prepared a bed and water for me to splash.
She didn't forget to give me something to eat. Just in case I got hungry again. And I'm always hungry.
When I dried off after my bath, I snuggled into the soft bed, which was nicely heated because Hank had turned on the lamp above it. It was nice and warm, and I was asleep in no time, as if I had been thrown into the water.
