My name is Marušánek and a cat caught me - I must have been dreaming something nice (6.)
I must have had a very pleasant dream, because in the morning Hanka told Franta that I had been chirping quietly in my sleep all night. I don't remember anything about the dream, but it's true that I slept very well and woke up feeling as fresh as a daisy.
The weather was beautiful, like a painting, so I was able to be outside from the morning. I really liked that because there is a lot of space in the paddock and I can run around or swim.
Hanka covered the paddock just in case it rained. She will be at work all day, so she said I might get wet.
Good thing she did! In the afternoon, a strong wind started to blow and lots of ugly clouds raced across the sky. Suddenly, the black clouds covered the entire sky and completely hid the sun. It was terrifying. I curled up in my bed and felt very scared.
Then there was a flash of lightning across the sky and a loud bang. Big raindrops pounded on the tarp above me. Everything was wet. Water was splashing everywhere, but luckily it wasn't raining on my bed.
When it was over, Hanka came home from work. She rushed over to see me, and before I could tell her everything that had happened, she grabbed me and quickly moved me inside.
I tried to tell her that it had stopped raining and that I would rather be outside, but she explained that an even bigger downpour was coming because there were more big clouds gathering.
She hadn't even finished speaking when it started again. I could hear more bangs on the way there. The wind was blowing so hard that everything was flying around and it was raining cats and dogs.
Hanka explained to me that it was a storm. She said that a storm isn't just ordinary rain. You can tell by the lightning in the sky and the loud bangs, which are called thunder.
Lightning happens when clouds start fighting and chasing each other. Then there's flashes between them, sometimes across the whole sky. Lightning splits the clouds, and when they come back together quickly, it makes a loud bang, like when you clap your hands together. Only much louder.
Hanka then talked to me and we listened to the rain drumming on the window sills. It was pleasant because I knew that nothing could happen to me anymore. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
